Making anything from kitchens and windows, to doors and furniture, Kakapo Joinery aims to transform spaces and the lives of those living in them with clean lines, symmetry, and balance at the heart of our work.

Robin Holthusen – Founder and Owner of Kakapo Joinery – is a passionate and highly skilled joiner who after spending years in the trade in the UK, headed back to New Zealand with the dream of bringing joinery back to life. With a background in joinery, building and project management, combined with the drive and a passion for precision, Robin and the Kakapo Joinery team deliver a second-to-none service to customers, providing a quality end product.

Our values are simple. Be honest and true to yourself, take pride in what you do. As this mindset carries over to our work, clients can be assured that the end product – whatever it may be – will have been made thoughtfully with each fine detail in mind. We believe that being proud of a result comes from the quality of work we put in. As such, our quality, our style, and the way we invest our time and energy into selecting the right materials sets us apart and enables us to go beyond the goal.

We make something from nothing through incorporating a pin-point blend of craftsmanship, artistry, and purpose into our joinery work, while executing to perfection. What brings us happiness and satisfaction is when we’re able to resuscitate and inject life into dead spaces, as well as being able to reshape everyday living by way of function.

We had a total kitchen replacement completed by Robin and his team at Kakapo Joinery this year, 2020. It all began with the need to replace a non functioning kitchen fan in a kitchen that was over 5 decades old. We took the plunge and committed to a total rebuild. It was made so much easier by Robin’s experience, advice and patience with us during the design phase. We had total trust in Robin and his team. The installation went smoothly and was well planned. We were impressed with the high standard of workmanship by Robin, his team, and his subcontractors. I love my new kitchen!! Robin listened carefully to our brief and stylishly incorporated our many ideas and 'must haves' into the design. He was happy to amend the plans as we came up with changes and was able to offer us useful advice that meant we have ended up with a kitchen that truly surpasses our expectations. We were aware that some of the chosen elements would be challenging to incorporate, into what is a reasonably compact space, but, with some clever design and faultless joinery, everything works perfectly. We now have a practical kitchen that reflects our style and ideas in a way that we envisaged but could not have realized ourselves.
